A Netvibes alternative: your feeds and widgets on an Inoreader dashboard
Netvibes is gone, but the way you used it does not have to be. Import the feeds you exported, give each folder a widget on a dashboard, and make that dashboard the page Inoreader opens on.

Netvibes has shut down
If you used Netvibes, you probably kept it as your start page, with your feeds laid out in boxes on one screen. Dassault Systèmes retired Netvibes as a standalone service, and it shut down on June 2, 2025. The data in it was deleted, so the only copy of your feeds is an OPML file you exported before that date.
Inoreader is an RSS reader for the web, iPhone, iPad and Android. You follow websites, YouTube channels, Reddit and Google News, and you can lay out what is new on dashboards of widgets. If you kept your Netvibes export, your feeds can be back in their folders in a few minutes.

What works differently in Inoreader
Inoreader's dashboard widgets are about your reading. They show the newest articles of a folder or a feed, trending articles, the latest matches of a monitoring feed, the articles you tagged or saved, your reading statistics and your unread counts. If your Netvibes page also held boxes that had nothing to do with feeds, you will need another place for those.
Inoreader also has no native Mac or Windows app. On a computer, you use it in the browser, and on your phone, you use the Inoreader app for iPhone, iPad or Android.
What Inoreader adds to a page of feeds
The whole article in the reader
Many feeds carry only a teaser and a link. Click Load full content and Inoreader brings the whole article with its pictures into the reader, free on every plan. Read more about full content.
Search across everything you follow
Every article Inoreader collected for your feeds stays searchable, as far back as it was collected, so you can find a story you skimmed weeks ago. Read more about search.
Folders for sources and tags for articles
Put your feeds in folders, one topic each, and tag the articles you want to come back to. Both are free. Read more about folders and tags.
Rules that sort for you
With Pro, a rule checks every new article against your conditions and can tag it, save it or email it to you the moment it arrives. Read more about rules.
Reading without a connection
With Pro, the iOS and Android apps keep the folders you choose downloaded, so you can read on a flight or a train. Read more about offline mode.
How to move from Netvibes to Inoreader
- Find the OPML file you exported from Netvibes before it shut down. If you did not save one, write down the sites you remember.
- Create a free Inoreader account, open Add feed, choose Import feeds and upload the file. Your folders come with it. Without a file, type each site's name in Add feed and follow it from the preview.
- The free plan holds 150 feeds. If your file has more, Pro holds 2,500.
- Open Dashboards, add a widget for each folder you want to see, and drag the widgets into the layout you are used to.
- Open the dashboard's three-dot menu at the top right and choose Set as start page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Netvibes still available?
No. Dassault Systèmes retired netvibes.com as a standalone service, and it shut down on June 2, 2025. The data in it was deleted, and the netvibes.com address now leads to a page on Dassault's own site.
Can I still export my feeds from Netvibes?
No. The export closed with the service. If you saved an OPML file before the shutdown, you can import it into Inoreader. If you did not, open Add feed in Inoreader and search for each site by its name or address.
How do I import an OPML file into Inoreader?
Open Add feed, choose Import feeds and upload the file. Inoreader keeps your folders and loads the recent articles of every feed. The free plan holds 150 feeds, and Pro holds 2,500.
Can Inoreader be my start page, like Netvibes was?
Yes. Build a dashboard with widgets for your folders, feeds and tags, then open its three-dot menu and choose Set as start page. Inoreader then opens on that dashboard, on the web and in the apps.
Can I have more than one page?
Yes. You can keep several dashboards, for example one for work and one for leisure, each with its own widgets and its own layout of one, two or three columns. You switch between them from the tabs at the top.
Is Inoreader free?
Yes. The free plan includes 150 feeds, dashboards, folders and tags, search in your feeds and read later, with no ads. Pro costs $9.99 a month or $89.99 a year and adds 2,500 feeds, rules, filters and newsletters. See pricing.
